Industrial Stainless Steel Tee

Stainless steel tees are critical pressure fittings used to merge or diverge fluid flow, and are categorized into equal-diameter and reducing tees. These products are manufactured in accordance with standards such as ASME B16.9 and GB/T 12459, with materials ranging from 304/304L to 316/316L. They are available in sizes from DN15 to DN1200 and wall thickness grades from Sch5S to XXS. Manufactured using hydraulic expansion or hot forming processes, these fittings undergo acid washing and passivation treatment prior to shipment. Classification by Structural Type

Equal-diameter tees / Reducing tees: In equal-diameter tees, the main pipe and branch pipe have the same diameter, used to maintain flow and pressure balance at the branch point. In reducing tees, the branch pipe has a smaller diameter than the main pipe, used for branch connections with different diameters or flow regulation.

Classification by Connection Method

Butt-weld Tee / Socket-weld Tee / Threaded Tee: Butt-weld tees feature beveled ends for butt-welding and are suitable for high-pressure, high-temperature, and large-diameter applications. Socket-weld tees have socketed ends for socket welding and are used in small-diameter, high-pressure systems. Threaded tees have internal threads for threaded connections and are suitable for low-pressure, small-diameter, and easily disassemblable applications.

Classification by Manufacturing Process

Seamless tees / Welded tees: Seamless tees are made by hot extrusion or cold forming of tube blanks; they have no weld seams, high strength, and are suitable for high-pressure and corrosive conditions. Welded tees are made by rolling and welding steel plates; they are suitable for large diameters or non-standard sizes and have lower costs.

Classification by Material

Austenitic Stainless Steel / Duplex Stainless Steel / Super Austenitic / Nickel-Based Alloys: Austenitic stainless steel (304/304L, 316/316L) offers excellent corrosion resistance, with 316L being resistant to chloride ion corrosion. Duplex stainless steel (2205, 2507) provides high strength and resistance to stress corrosion. Super austenitic (904L, 254SMO) offers resistance to strong acids and pitting corrosion. Nickel-based alloys (Inconel 625, Monel 400, Hastelloy C276) are suitable for extremely high-temperature, high-pressure, and highly corrosive environments.

Classification by Pressure Rating and Wall Thickness

Sch5S – XXS / Class 150 – 2500: Wall thickness grades range from Sch5S to XXS; the higher the number, the thicker the wall and the greater the pressure-bearing capacity. Pressure ratings, ranging from Class 150 to 2500, correspond to different design pressure ranges.

Classification by Size Specifications

Small Diameter / Medium Diameter / Large Diameter / Extra-Large Diameter: Small diameter (NPS 1/2″–2″) is used for instrumentation piping and branch lines. Medium diameter (NPS 3″–12″) is used for industrial main lines. Large diameter (NPS 14″–48″) is used for large-scale transmission main lines. Extra-large diameter (NPS 48″ and above) is custom-made to non-standard specifications.

Classification by Surface Treatment

Pickling and Passivation / Mechanical Polishing / Electropolishing: Pickling and passivation is the standard treatment, removing scale and restoring corrosion resistance. Mechanical polishing achieves a finish of 180–400 grit, suitable for food and pharmaceutical clean piping. Electropolishing achieves a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.4 μm, used for high-purity media, semiconductors, and biopharmaceuticals.

Classification by Standards

American Standards / Chinese Standards / European Standards / Japanese Standards: American standards ASME B16.9 and B16.11 are widely used in North American and international engineering projects. Chinese standards GB/T 12459 and 13401 apply to the Chinese market. European standards EN 10253-2 and -4 are intended for the European and Middle Eastern markets: Japanese Standards JIS B2311, B2312: Suitable for the Japanese and Asian markets.

Classification by Special Applications

Sanitary Tees / High-Pressure Tees / Cryogenic Tees / Anti-Corrosion Coated Tees: Sanitary tees feature polished inner walls (Ra ≤ 0.6 μm) and a dead-end-free design, compliant with 3A and FDA standards. High-pressure tees have wall thicknesses of Sch 160 or higher, or Class 1500 or higher, and are used in ultra-high-pressure systems. Cryogenic tees have passed cryogenic impact testing and are used in LNG and liquid nitrogen applications. Corrosion-resistant coated tees are coated with epoxy, galvanized, or Teflon and are used in buried or highly corrosive environments.
